Pediatric Eye Examinations — Ages 5 and Up
From the classroom to the playground, vision is part of a child’s day. We welcome children ages 5 and older for examinations tailored to their needs.
What your visit can include
An examination can check visual clarity, eye coordination, and eye health. Share any concerns about squinting, eye rubbing, headaches, or difficulty with close work. A school screening does not replace a comprehensive eye examination. Children younger than 5 also need age-appropriate eye care; ask their pediatrician or a provider who sees younger children.
- Talk about your child’s health and visual habits
- Check how clearly your child sees
- Evaluate how the eyes work together and eye health
- Discuss findings and next steps with a parent or guardian
Your questions, answered.
Do you see children under age 5?
Our pediatric eye examination service begins at age 5. For younger children, contact their pediatrician or a provider who cares for that age group.
What should we bring?
Bring a medication list, relevant health history, and any school screening results or questions. A parent or guardian should accompany the child. You can meet our doctors and find directions to the Richmond office before your visit.
